Our director, Makha Diop, is a member of the Africa Djembe group, which is a group of talented and unique drummers performing djembe regularly at local and international festivals. Makha Diop was born and raised in Senegal, West Africa. He started playing djembe, a traditional African drum and other percussion instruments at his early age. His talent was soon being discovered and started his drumming life. Djembe gains its popularity worldwide and many people go to visit Makha's hometown, Goree Island, to learn drumming and dancing. Makha has performed in front of many renowned people and celebrities, including Bill Clinton, Nelson Mandela and Pope John Paul the second.

In 2001, Makha was invited by one of his students to perform and conduct djembe workshops in Hong Kong. Eight years later, Makha has taught and performed extensively throughout Hong Kong, China and other East Asian countries.
